Dreamers and doers, wordsmiths and radicals, crafters, grafters, pirates and bad bitches: welcome to Dublin Fringe Festival 2018. Your wildest dreams have set the agenda.
Dublin Fringe Festival
Dublin Fringe Festival 2017 is a heartstopper. An uproarious sixteen days of thrilling, provocative events that will consume and inspire the city.
Fringe 2016 is the boldest, wildest and most spectacular yet. This edition is going to be fabled – you’ll want to say you were there. It’s a knockout sixteen days full of events that will give you indelible, powerful and magical experiences.
Fringe is 21 and we’re giving you all the birthday presents. First off, we’re bringing back a long-lost favourite friend of the festival, the legendary Spiegeltent! Right in the heart of the city at Wolfe Tone Square, the Spiegeltent is the place to catch the dazzling, the wonderful and the daring.
This year we’re looking out upon unidentified horizons. We reflect on our past and imagine what’s ahead over yonder. We’re embracing the tensions between ambiguity and fact, the personal and the private, between real and fantasy. Intrepid, fearless and powerful artists are our guides.
This year’s festival celebrates activists, whistle blowers, outsiders, women, children and industry in a jam packed programme of the best new Irish and international arts.
2012 marks a very special 18th birthday celebration for the festival. Far from taking on the responsibilities of adulthood with sobriety and meek submission, our 18th birthday sees us dreaming big, living large and losing the keys to this glorious city of Dublin.
Since late last year, we have been having animated conversations with artists around the ideas expressed on the page overleaf. We formed a provocation, a manifesto of sorts, and asked artists to respond. What they came back to us with surprised and later energised and propelled the festival forward.
