Fringe wins Best Tourism Initiative Award

Fringe wins Best Tourism Initiative Award

Fringe was delighted to attend the recent LAMA Community and Council Awards and even more delighted to come home with the prize!

We were nominated in the Best Tourism Initiative category and won on the night. Presented by Fáilte Ireland, the award rewards an initiative which directly increases visitor numbers to an area and has helped improve the way Ireland cares for visitors. We're thrilled to have our work with our local authority partners Dublin City Council recognised in this way: our important relationship enables Fringe to take over the city each September.

2016 marked a bumper year for Dublin Fringe Festival with our biggest audience in ten years, as well as an increase in the number of tourists attending the festival. We welcomed visitors from over 40 countries including Germany, Denmark, Japan, Brazil, New Zealand and Canada. From the sparkle of the Merrion Square to the dramatic surrounds of Poolbeg Yacht Club, we're proud each year to showcase our city as one of the world's most exciting cultural destinations.
