Dublin Fringe Festival announces the Weft Audience Club
We are thrilled to introduce the Weft Audience Club at Dublin Fringe Festival 2022! As part of the Weft initiative, the Audience Club seeks to introduce the work on show as part of the festival to new audience members. You will be hosted by Brigid Leahy (Weft Studio Artist) and Khanyisile Mbukwane (Weft Project Co-Ordinator).
We are seeking expressions of interest to join the Weft Audience Club at Dublin Fringe Festival now. Here’s what you need to know before applying:
- We’re looking for BIPOC folks interested in exploring the bold and the new!
- The club will have up to 10 members, hosted by WEFT Project Coordinator Khanyi Mbukwane & Weft Studio Artist Brigid Leahy.
- You’ll attend approx. 7 shows in the city centre over 4 nights between 13 – 24 September.
- It’s all free! If you need support with travel costs, we will be able to help.

How do I get involved?
- Write a short paragraph (100 words) explaining why you would be interested in joining the audience club.
- Fill out the open call form here.
- Deadline is 29 August 2022.

Brigid Leahy
Brigid is a Vietnamese-Irish-American writer & performer based in Dublin. As a writer, she has showcased a work-in-progress play with Weft Studio in association with Dublin Fringe Festival. She also recently won the Virgin Media Discovers short film competition for the script Good Chips, co-written and directed by Nell Hensey and produced by Copper Alley Productions. As an actor, Brigid has appeared in Disney's Disenchanted, HBO's Avenue 5, As Luck Would Have It (Hallmark), Smother (RTE/BBC Studios), and Can't Cope, Won't Cope (Deadpan Pictures).
Brigid says: "I am delighted to be hosting the Weft Audience Club! It will be a privilege to experience and discuss amazing works with fellow BIPOC artists. The Dublin Fringe Festival community is special and I look forward to meeting everyone!"
Khanyisile Mbukwane
Khanyi is a writer and creative from South Africa. Published in Tongues, Iambeyoutiful UK, Black Joy Theory, Slight Motif, and many more. Also, an activist for black women's rights and formally honoured in Swaziland by the Royal Family as a youth of change. A marketing student with experience working in corporate South Africa and marketing internship with Women in Networking group in Minnesota, US.
