Dublin Fringe Festival is inviting you to join our Volunteer Team to make memories with friends and festival goers this year! From 7-22 September, our Volunteers will assist at a number of festival shows in indoor and outdoor venues across the city of Dublin.

Dublin Fringe Festival is home to brave ideas, bold performing arts and adventurous audiences. Each year we present a curated, multi-disciplinary festival focusing on new and innovative approaches to the arts. Dublin Fringe Festival is a year-round organisation; we support the development and presentation of new work by Irish and International artists of vision, nurturing artistic ambition and excellence across a range of art forms. An active curator, Dublin Fringe Festival provides an environment in which participating artists challenge, subvert and invigorate their disciplines and practice. Dublin Fringe Festival provides a context for work and demands audience engagement and dialogue. The scale and environment of the festival broadens arts participation, playing a vital role in the fabric of Dublin’s culture. We are a thriving community that celebrates bold ideas and brave art every September and year-round, marking our 30th edition in 2024.

The following is a brief guide to the principal areas of volunteer operation. By reading this you can get a broader sense of some of the work volunteering entails throughout the different shows/venues across the Festival.

Front of House: Volunteering for Front of House puts you very much at the forefront of the Festival experience. 2024 will see the Festival unfold across many different spaces. From venues like Smock Alley Theatre, Project Arts Centre, The New Theatre, The National Stadium and many more! The venues are the hub of Festival activity and as many of our volunteers are Festival aficionados themselves, you get the opportunity to participate in and contribute to the dynamic atmosphere of the Festival. Front of House volunteering activities include ushering and general venue operations (crowd liaising & information point of contact). Through a co-ordination of these elements we can ensure the smooth running of the Festival schedule. Certain Front of House shifts can involve some late nights.

Box Office: Volunteering with the box office entails Ticket scanning audience tickets. Crossing off names on customer/guest lists, and in many cases returning these lists to the Festival offices on Sycamore Street . Previous experience with scanners or Ticketsolve is a plus.

Outdoor Events Steward: Our outdoor events rely heavily on dedicated volunteers to assist with organising site layout, liaising with the public and crowd management. Volunteers must be prepared to operate in changing weather conditions also. These shifts are overseen by the production team and can provide those involved with a valuable insight into the co-ordination of an event on this scale. This year sees the Festival at Dublin Castle, Project Arts Centre, The Lir and many, more.

Our Volunteers are a hugely important component of what makes the Festival a success year on year. Thank you for taking the time to complete this application and offer your services in support of Dublin Fringe Festival.
